Meet the Charity Escapes Team

Hi, it's good to meet you! Welcome to Charity Escapes. We are a small but ambitious and dedicated team helping to raise money for a rainbow of good causes linking hotels and holiday providers with charities. If you would like to know more about what we do or get involved, please get in touch.

Jeremy Middleton, Founder

The Middleton Foundation was set up as a registered charity in 2016 by Jeremy Middleton.

Jeremy Middleton is a self-made businessman living in the North East of England. He co-founded HomeServe plc, now a FTSE 250 company and founded the investment company Middleton Enterprises. The firm’s investments cover a range of sectors including manufacturing, environmental, digital media and property trading. In addition to his business interests, Jeremy is an active philanthropist.

Changing Lives - Jeremy joined the Board of Changing Lives in 2013. Changing Lives is a substantial North East charity focused on social disadvantage. His key priority there is to support the purchase and refurbishment of empty properties which are then made available at below market rates.

World Vision - Jeremy has been working in partnership with World Vision UK since 2012. He is piloting a new sponsorship product for the charity best known for child sponsorship around the world. Sangailu in Eastern Kenya is a very poor community living in a very fragile environment. Sponsorship has funded an Economic Development Team that is working with the local community to improve the supply of clean water, improve sanitation, raise levels of attendance in school and raise living standards in this community of 8000 people. Jeremy is also working with World Vision to help them develop the idea of "community sponsorship" and to source other supporters for similar economic development projects.

CBE - In 2012 Jeremy was awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for Services to Politics and Charities.

Rick McCordall, Project Director

Rick joined the Middleton Foundation in April 2016 to launch and manage Charity Escapes. Rick has experience in setting up and launching new enterprises and has experience of working in the charity sector.

Rick set up and sold a successful Marketing and PR agency in the North East before going on to establish Cottages in Northumberland Ltd in 2006. 10 years on, Rick still supports the business which continues to grow, now looking after 200 holiday properties located across Northumberland.

More recently, Rick supported a Darlington based charity through his own consultancy business, Accentuate (North East) Limited. Accentuate also works with Universities and Colleges to help graduates improve their skills and employability.

“Our aim is to establish a go to website for charities who wants to raise money at their event by offering auction or raffle pries without it costing them a lot of money. We also hope to work with more donors looking for a more strucutred and measurable approach to supporting good causes.”
